Since the day Country At Heart were founded we have came across some great upcoming talent so today we will look at the women who could very well shape country music’s future and become the next star highlighting artists coming through that may not have been noticed as much as others. Who out of this group of talents will hit there full potential?
Mikaila got noticed with her previous single “Roadside Jesus” at the end of December 2016. Mikaila is an independent artist and has deservedly made herself noticed since the start of her career. When Country at Heart asked Mikaila How much of a surprise her success she has been she said “Very, I would say I was more surprised after the release of my debut single Missin’ last June that it went top 80 for my first release. Roadside Jesus was an incredible follow up charting in the top 50 and opening a ton of doors! I have radio to thank for all of the out of the gates support and for taking a chance on an indie artist! Its always surprising hearing yourself on the radio no matter what! Im not sure if it will ever get old”. The current single “Boys got a girlfriend” was released in May and is set to be follow up success from her previous singles. “I think every artist always says their new song is their favorite. And its the same for me this is my favorite single yet. The way this turned out could not have been any more on point. Its honest in how it talks about how we often take people for granted. Or we don’t know what we had until its gone. Its not a topic often talked about from a female perspective which gives it an edge and the way Johnny took my emotion from it and put it into the production blows my mind ! gives me goosebumps at the end every time”
Mikaila finished by adding “I’m actually a top 12 project wild finalist so my winter is based around that and showcases at Canadian Country Music week in Saskatoon. I’m also going to at Manitoulin Country fest this weekend in Ontario and Country Thunder Alberta the following weekend!”
Mikaila is currently working on 2 songs including a track with established artist Gord Bamford and are hoping the EP will be ready for release by the end of 2017.

Ashleigh Lisset was born in the city but raised on country music listening to artists such as Jonny Cash, Crystal Gayle, Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers. She has a self confessed endless passion for music and knew the path she wanted to take early in life. Ashliegh lost her father when she was 11 serving in Iraq and found solace in music. “I found so much comfort in music. It definitely helped me heal during the darkest moments of my life and continues to help me heal, present day. When I’m feeling down, I can write about it and get all the emotions out.” The journey Ashleigh has been on since has certainly been life changing, her debut single kill the headlights was co-written by her idol Carrie Underwood and the current single Goodbye was co-written by Kelsea Ballerini. Ashliegh is currently working on her debut EP hoping to have it released by the end of 2017. The album will include a couple songs which was co-wrote with Zac Maloy from The Nixons and a track named The Call which was co-wrote by actress and singer Lucy Hale. Working with Carrie and Kelsea so early in her career certainly makes Ashliegh Lisset one to watch.

Macy’s first memory of her performing was when she was just 6 years old performing for the Miss America Organization’s Miss Texas pageant during their preliminary intermissions. and went on to sing the national anthem for school events when she was 13 which didn’t take long for professionals to recognise her talent. Macy went on to book and perform at local venues and events connecting with members of the Texas music industry. Macy got discovered by producer Kent Wells who has worked with the legendary Dolly Parton, Under Kent she released her debut EP and first single at the age of just 14. Macy now has a deal with an independent label owned by Dolly Parton’s producer, Kent Wells, who’s taken a special interest in Macy and helping develop her career.
Macy’s current single was written by Matt Alderman, Sam Brooker, Brooke Eden, and Liz Sharpe (who is second cousin to Loretta Lynn and Patty Loveless). Macy immediately connected with the song and knew she wanted to cut it. She always says that she knew that nearly anyone could relate to it and considering her Dad’s truck always left them ‘Broke Down’ that was just the extra push for wanting to cut this song as her single.
Macy is currently working hard on a new album which currently has no end timetable for release.
